Privacy Policy

Our Privacy Commitment

When We First, Inc., operating as The Matchmaking Network ("The Matchmaking Network," "Company," "we," or "us"), is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy describes our practices for collecting, using, maintaining, and disclosing information that we collect from you or that you provide to us when you visit our website at https://www.thematchmakingnetwork.com and any other products and services we make available (collectively, the "Services").

The Matchmaking Network is a private, referral-based network that connects quality singles with professional matchmakers. We are not a swipe-based dating app or a public dating service. The cornerstone of our model is privacy first: matchmakers see anonymized profile previews, and your direct contact information is never shared without your explicit consent.

By accessing or using the Services, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with our policies and practices, please do not use the Services. We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time; the "Current as of" date above indicates when it was last revised. Material changes will be communicated via email or a prominent notice on the Site.

Information We Collect and How We Collect It

Information You Provide

We may collect the following information when you join the network, are referred by a friend, apply as a matchmaker, request an introduction, or contact us directly:

  • Your first and last name
  • Your email address (required for all accounts)
  • Your mobile phone number (optional)
  • Your date of birth
  • Your city and ZIP/postal code, and selected cities of interest
  • Your relationship goals and preferences regarding children
  • A headshot photo and/or your Instagram handle and/or one or more public profile links you choose to provide (e.g., LinkedIn)
  • A short bio or context describing what you are looking for in a partner
  • For matchmakers: business name, credentials, professional references, and payment details collected by our payment processor
  • For optional identity verification: government ID images and selfie processed by our identity-verification provider (we do not store ID images on our servers)
  • Communications you send to our team or our AI support assistant

The information you provide may include Personal Information — information that identifies you personally (whether alone or in combination with other information).

Information We Automatically Collect

When you use the Services, we may automatically collect:

  • Browser type and operating system
  • Internet Protocol (IP) address, which can be used to derive a general geographic area
  • Pages you view and links you click within the Services
  • Referring/exit URLs
  • Information about your interactions with our emails, such as opens and link clicks (via our email service provider)
  • Information collected through cookies, pixel tags, and similar technologies, including the Meta (Facebook) Pixel for measurement
  • Standard server log information

Cookies are small bits of information stored by your browser. Pixel tags (also known as web beacons or clear GIFs) are small images embedded in pages or emails. You can configure your browser to reject cookies, but some features of the Services may not function properly if you do so.

We do not collect mobile-device identifiers or background location data. The Services are a web application; there is no mobile app that runs in the background or accesses your device location.

Third-Party Information Collection

We use the following third-party service providers to deliver the Services. Information collected and stored by these providers is subject to their own policies and practices. We do not control their tracking technologies or how they may be used.

  • Supabase — backend hosting, database, authentication, and file storage — privacy policy
  • Resend — transactional and notification email delivery — privacy policy
  • Square — payment processing for matchmaker fees and optional ID-verification fees — privacy policy
  • Persona — optional government-ID verification — privacy policy
  • Google (Gemini AI) — powers our in-portal AI support assistant — privacy policy
  • Meta (Facebook Pixel) — analytics and audience measurement — privacy policy

How We Use Your Information

  • Service Delivery. To operate the network, send magic-link sign-in messages, route referrals, present anonymized profile previews to approved matchmakers, facilitate consent-driven introduction requests, and process payments.
  • Communication. To respond to your questions, send transactional and account-related messages (e.g., intro requests, referral confirmations), and notify you of changes to the Services.
  • Member referrals. When a member joins through another member's referral link or code, we record who referred whom so we can award referral rewards and prevent duplicate or fraudulent credit.
  • Marketing. To send occasional updates about The Matchmaking Network and our Services only by email. You can opt out at any time by clicking "unsubscribe" in any email or by emailing us at support@thematchmakingnetwork.com. We do not send marketing SMS messages and we do not place marketing phone calls.
  • Analytics. To monitor and analyze trends, usage, and activity, improve the Services, and generate de-identified data.
  • Protection and Compliance. To detect, investigate, and help prevent security incidents, fraud, and other malicious or illegal activity, protect our rights and property, and comply with legal obligations.

Privacy Model and Information Sharing

Information is shared inside the network strictly in accordance with our consent-driven model:

  • Anonymized previews to matchmakers. Approved network matchmakers can see limited, anonymized profile details (such as age range, selected cities, relationship goals, kids preferences, and a headshot or Instagram handle if you provided one). They do not see your last name, email, or phone number by default.
  • Consent before contact details are revealed. When a matchmaker requests an introduction, you receive an email or in-portal notification. Your direct contact information (email and phone) is shared with that matchmaker only after you explicitly approve the request.
  • Referrer obligation. Anyone referring a single to the network must have that person's permission before sharing their name and contact info.
  • Optional ID verification. Singles may pay an optional $9 fee to receive a verified-identity badge. The verification process is handled by our identity-verification provider; we receive only the pass/fail result and a verification reference, not your ID images.

Outside of the consent-driven matchmaker flow, we may also share information as follows:

  • Service Providers. With the third-party vendors listed above that perform functions on our behalf.
  • Legal and Safety. When required by law, to protect the rights, property, or safety of The Matchmaking Network or others, to enforce our Terms of Use, or to respond to lawful requests from public authorities.
  • Business Transfers. In connection with a merger, sale, financing, or acquisition of all or part of our business.
  • With Your Consent. When you direct us to share information with a third party.
  • Aggregate or De-Identified Data. Information that does not identify you personally for any legitimate business purpose.

We do not sell your Personal Information.

Targeted Advertising and Analytics

We use the Meta (Facebook) Pixel for measurement and to help us understand which pages visitors view. We do not currently use cross-site retargeting ads. You can learn more about interest-based advertising and opt out at www.aboutads.info/choices or networkadvertising.org/choices.

Your Choices

  • Cookies. You can accept or disable cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may limit functionality.
  • Email. You can opt out of non-essential emails by clicking "unsubscribe" in any marketing message. Transactional messages (such as magic-link sign-in, intro requests, and account notifications) are required to operate the Services.
  • Profile information. You can update or remove most profile details from within your account, or by emailing us.
  • Account deletion. You may request deletion of your account and associated profile by emailing support@thematchmakingnetwork.com.

Links to Third-Party Sites

The Services may contain links to other websites or online services that are operated by third parties and are not under our control. Such links do not constitute an endorsement. This Privacy Policy does not apply to third-party content. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of those sites.

Do Not Track Signals

Certain web browsers enable users to activate a "Do Not Track" signal. We do not currently respond to "Do Not Track" signals or other similar mechanisms.

Data Retention

We keep your information only as long as we need it for legitimate business purposes and as permitted by applicable law. If you close your account, we may retain limited data to prevent fraud, enforce our Terms of Use, comply with legal obligations, and protect the integrity of the Services.

Accessing and Correcting Your Information

You may access, update, correct, or delete Personal Information you previously submitted by signing in to your account or by contacting us at support@thematchmakingnetwork.com.

SMS / Mobile Information

Mobile information will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. We may use service providers, including our messaging provider, solely to deliver communications you have requested. SMS opt-in data and consent will not be shared for third-party marketing purposes. This does not prevent The Matchmaking Network from sharing contact information with a professional matchmaker when a member separately and expressly approves a specific introduction.

Security

We use a variety of reasonable physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect your Personal Information, including row-level security on our database, server-side validation through secure backend functions, encrypted transport (HTTPS), and access controls that prevent direct public writes to sensitive tables. Authentication is passwordless via magic-link email, which avoids the risks associated with stored passwords.

However, no method of electronic storage or transmission over the internet is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we learn of a security breach, we will endeavor to notify you in accordance with applicable law. If you become aware of any breach of data security or have any questions about the security of the Services, please contact us at support@thematchmakingnetwork.com.

Notice to California Residents

California Civil Code Section 1798.83 ("Shine The Light") permits users who are California residents to request information once a calendar year about categories of Personal Information (if any) we disclosed to third parties for direct marketing purposes. To make such a request, please email support@thematchmakingnetwork.com.

Children's Privacy

The Services are intended only for users 18 years of age or older (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, whichever is greater). We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from anyone under that age. If you believe we might have any information from or about a minor, please contact us at support@thematchmakingnetwork.com and we will delete it.

International Users

The Services are directed to users who reside in the United States. By using the Services, you consent to the collection, storage, processing, and transfer of your information in and to the United States, which may not offer the same level of privacy protection as your own jurisdiction.
